Scenario Notes: So Long Yesterday

Scene: A Torrential Downpour – The Protagonist Collapsed in the Mountains Near a Hospital

  • A lone on-duty doctor rushes to the scene.
  • He is shocked to see that the collapsed figure is a child missing an arm.
  • But more than that, the child is in critical condition and is immediately placed on a stretcher and taken inside.

Surgery Begins

Doctor (examining the injuries):
“What is this…? A biological transplant…? No, that’s impossible.”

“They’ve removed entire essential sections… There’s nothing I can do but perform emergency treatment!”

(Context: In the detention center, his organs were extracted for transplantation. Since donors under 15 are rare, he was used.)

The Protagonist Communicates via Voice-to-Text

  • Due to losing his voice, the protagonist uses an automated speech-to-text device to communicate.
  • The mechanical doctor acknowledges that he came here seeking help.

Protagonist:
“Build me a new arm—a device. I need to draw.”

Doctor:
“An artist, huh?”

Protagonist:
“There’s someone I need to meet.”

  • He presents his own crude blueprint,
  • A poorly drawn but sophisticated design that incorporates quantum computation systems.
  • The doctor, surprised, remarks:
    • “Even in this pitiful state, you managed to design something like this…?”

Doctor’s Condition

Doctor:
“I don’t mind, but let me treat you first.”
“At this rate, you won’t last more than a few days.”

  • The doctor has a machine prototype, which he originally built as a personal project, not for practical use.
  • The protagonist offers to trade his existing device to pay for it…

Doctor:
“Luckily, I have something that might work for you.”
“But if we implant this—

“You’ll have to free up space in your brain.”
“Most of your memory will have to be deleted.”

The Choice to Forget

Doctor:
“Good or bad, you’ll lose everything from your past life.”

Protagonist:
“I don’t care.”

Doctor:
“That was an instant answer. Think for a second, will you?”

(Stage direction: Why is the doctor hesitating?)

Sudden Deterioration – Surgery Must Be Performed Immediately

  • The protagonist’s condition worsens rapidly.
  • A robotic nurse administers sedatives and other emergency treatments.

Doctor:
“Have you changed your mind?”
“Before we begin, listen carefully.”

“Your body has been through brutal treatment.”
“I’d bet anything it happened in the East… I’ve heard the stories.”

“As a doctor, I cannot overlook this. You should bring this to justice—international justice.
“That’s why I wrote a medical report.”

“But if you erase your memory… you won’t be able to testify.”
“You’ll lose your ability to fight against the violence that stole not only your body but also your life as an artist.”
“You’ll never get to clear your name.”

“Are you really okay with that?”

Protagonist’s Response

Protagonist:
“There’s someone I need to meet.”

Doctor (shaking his head, unable to understand):
“Maybe this is unfair to say, but… aren’t there other victims too?”
“There are safer ways to survive.”

Protagonist (barely conscious, voice failing):
“D-don’t… care… M-must… meet… Master…”

Final Words Before Surgery

Protagonist (muttering faintly):
“The only way I can protect my pride is by creating something great.”
“That’s how I fight back.”

“My master was the one who taught me that.”

Author’s Note

Not sure why I feel the need to write this down here.
I’ll probably return to this as a draft later.
